Dog Moon Bear
Katie Swartz is a native Ohioan and a full time art teacher at a community school in Bond Hill. She has been throwing pots steadily for about six years now. Her creative efforts are split between ceramics and crochet and she credits her travel and relationships as being highly influential to her work. Swartz has one dog and one cat that frequently appear in her pieces.
“This most recent body of ceramic work depicts various animals on several functional forms. I have always enjoyed working with animal forms because of their looks and traits, and the relation I feel they have to people in my life. For this show in particular, I’ve focused on the bear for it’s solitary nature, and the dog for its eagerness and loyalty.”
We’ve long sold Katie’s crocheted wonderment in our store and are super excited to showcase her ceramic work for this exhibition. Please join us for free cheap booze and awesomeness with this October installment of Northside Second Saturdays!
