January 2011

This month Fabricate features the opening reception for Space Craft: Works by Aaron Oliver Wood on Saturday, January 8th from 7–11 p.m.
Aaron Oliver Wood is an artist from Florida now living and working in Cincinnati, Ohio. He graduated with a BA in Graphic Design from Northern Kentucky University in 2008. Wood has shown extensively in the Cincinnati area over the last few years and Fabricate is very excited to welcome you to his latest body of work, Space Craft.

Space Craft is a new series of drawings that were created as backdrops and test drawings for a short film project that Wood is planned for the spring of 2011. Wood uses outer space and celestial objects as the primary influence for these drawings made up of kaleidoscopic layers of silkscreen, watercolor and colored pencil. These vibrant drawings draw from a variety of influences including the 1960’s poster art of Milton Glaser, the works of architect Freidensreich Hundertwasser, science fiction films like The Black Hole and 2001 Space Odyssey, and various other imagery associated with late 1960’s futuristic interior design. Aaron filters these influences through his own childhood memories and life experiences to achieve an emotional impact in the space.

Fabricate welcomes you to join them for the new art show accompanied by DJ Kevin Frey and potable beverages.

Afterward, follow everyone down to Mayday for the Fabricate After-Party.
